Welcome To Our Framework
At the heart of Somerset’s vision is the aim to improve outcomes for children and families and a commitment to the professional development of all early years practitioners.
We recognise that working practitioners are one of the best sources of expertise and knowledge in the field, and are superbly placed to offer opportunities to share best practice and the peer-to-peer support that you have told us you need.
Information held on the website will be checked and updated regularly, however this is a resource for the early years workforce, so we would encourage you to notify us of any updates you consider are required, send us information and documentation relating to your own good practice that you would want us to share with other practitioners, or highlight interesting information or articles through the forum.
In her review of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) 2011, Dame Clare Tickell spoke of the wealth of knowledge and expertise already in existence across the sector. The Early Years Leadership and Peer-to-Peer Support Framework recognises this and supports the recommendations set out in the Nutbrown Review 2012, that practitioners should receive professional mentoring and coaching support from outstanding leaders and peers and that this is vital in improving the quality of provision.
